2. Cookies and Similar Technologies in Mobile Apps
Traditional cookies are small text files used in web browsers. As a mobile application, the App does not use browser cookies directly. Instead, we and our third-party partners use similar tracking technologies, including:
SDK-based tracking — software development kits (SDKs) embedded in the App that collect usage and device data on behalf of third-party services (e.g., Firebase, AdMob, RevenueCat).
Device Identifiers — including Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS, used for advertising and analytics purposes.
Local Storage — data stored directly on your device by the App for functionality and preference purposes.
Analytics Identifiers — anonymous identifiers assigned to your device session for usage analysis.
When we refer to "cookies" in this policy, we mean all of the above technologies collectively.
3. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
In accordance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, the App will request your explicit permission before tracking your activity across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes.
If you allow tracking, your IDFA may be used to deliver personalized ads via Google AdMob.
If you deny tracking, only non-personalized (contextual) ads will be shown. Core app functionality is not affected.
You can change your tracking preference at any time in: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
4. Types of Tracking Technologies Used
4.1 Essential Technologies
Necessary for the proper functioning of the App.
Examples: session management, user authentication, local data storage for pet profiles and meal records.
Cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality.
4.2 Analytics Technologies
Collect anonymous data on how users interact with the App.
Used to improve app performance and user experience.
Providers: Google Firebase Analytics.
4.3 Advertising Technologies
Used to deliver ads within the App.
Personalized ads require your consent via ATT (see Section 3).
Non-personalized ads may be shown without tracking consent.
Provider: Google AdMob.
4.4 AI Feature Technologies
When you use the food scanning feature, images are transmitted to Google's Gemini API for processing.
This involves data transfer to Google's servers and is governed by Google's own terms.
No persistent tracking or advertising identifiers are used in this process.
5. Third-Party Services
The following third-party providers may collect and process data through tracking technologies embedded in the App:
Provider | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
Google Firebase | Analytics, backend, push notifications | |
Google AdMob | Advertising | |
Google Gemini API | AI food scanning feature | |
RevenueCat | Subscription management and tracking | |
Apple Analytics | App performance (iOS platform) |
We are not responsible for the tracking practices of these third parties. Please refer to their individual privacy policies for details.
6. Managing Tracking Preferences
You can manage or limit tracking in the following ways:
iOS ATT prompt — deny tracking when prompted by the App on first launch.
iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking — enable or disable per-app tracking at any time.
iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising — limit personalized ads across the platform.
App Settings — disable optional analytics or push notifications within the App where available.
Disabling essential local storage may affect core app functionality such as saving pet profiles and meal records.
7. Data Protection and International Transfers
Tracking technologies used by third-party providers (including Google Firebase, AdMob, and Gemini API) may result in data being transferred to and processed in countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States.
Such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses as outlined in the respective providers' data processing agreements.
For more information on how personal data is protected, please refer to our full Privacy Policy.
8. Legal Basis (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area:
Essential technologies: used on the basis of legitimate interest and contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b/f) GDPR).
Analytics and advertising technologies: used only with your explicit consent where required (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), including via the ATT prompt on iOS.
You have the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
